The Information Age has swept in voluminous amounts of Internet based, multimedia resources that can be used for solving problems, communicating, and processing information in the your classroom. Engaging and effective educators who use and/or teach with the digital content directly support their students mastery of Common Core standards.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this session, you will be better prepared to:
  • access CC tools that can aid you during lesson planning;
  • support 21st Century Skills through digital content;
  • leverage select digital content repositories that can be used in your learning and teaching practices;
  • better evaluate the alignment to CC and presence of Information and Technology Essential Standards in selected digital content resources.

Common Core Master App

Just as reminder there are online resources to quickly find standards by subject, grade, and subject category (domain/cluster)...for English/Language Arts and for Math.
This app includes standards for grades K-12. All of these resources great reference for teachers to EASILY and READILY explore, understand, and apply the core standards.

Internet Archive

The Internet Archive is a non-profit digital library with the stated mission of "universal access to all knowledge". It offers permanent storage and access to collections of digitized materials, including websites, music, moving images, and nearly 3 million public domain books. If someone wants to look at a copy of Euclid's Elements from centuries ago, all they have to do is search the database. There are some editable versions as well!

III. Reflection (10 minutes)

Let's consider how these resources impact how you approach digitally supported learning and teaching:
  • How can you connect teaching to 21st Century Skills through technology integration with these materials?
  • How do you envision these materials and resources supporting your current curriculum?
  • What other take-aways do you want to record, not only for this session, but for your full day of PD?
